Roberto Firmino

Rio Ferdinand, a former player for Manchester United, argued that Roberto Firmino should have been the player moved by Liverpool before the season began rather than Sadio Mane.

The Senegal international paid £32.5 million with add-ons to join Bayern Munich last summer. After the previous campaign, he began the final season of his deal with Anfield.

The former Southampton winger is reportedly making £250,000 a week at the Allianz Arena, according to the Daily Mail. Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah received a new three-year contract last summer, setting a club record for weekly pay of £400,000.

Ferdinand is perplexed as to why the Reds refused to concede to any possible wage demands Mane may have had. He claimed that it would have been smarter to sell Firmino, who also began the season with Liverpool in the final year of his contract.

In 53 appearances across competitions last season, his 23 goals and five assists helped the Premier League heavyweights reach an unprecedented quadruple. Mane additionally assisted Senegal last year in their first-ever AFCON trophy win, however, they only took home two of those four medals.
