Midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique, will be upset over his failed bid to join Arsenal during the winter transfer window.
Chelsea and the Gunners were both interested in the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder. However, the Seagulls turned down two proposals from north London and one from the Blues (via Football. London).
Even on his social media, Caicedo pleaded with Brighton to permit his transfer during the January transfer window. But the Seagulls were clear that they didn’t want to trade a crucial player in the middle of the campaign.
The Ecuadorian international will now remain with the team to finish the current campaign. Enrique predicts that the midfielder will be dissatisfied with the circumstances. In response to a post by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the former full-back stated:
“He will be so mad. But the club has the power. You are under contract and they don’t want to let you leave in the middle of the season. So, it’s fair enough from Brighton’s side.”
In 2021, Caicedo, 21, transferred from Independiente to Brighton. He has played in 31 games for the team, making two goals and three assists along the way.
In the meanwhile, after failing to sign Caicedo, Arsenal acquired Jorginho from Chelsea. They’re supposed to try again for the kid in the summer as well.
